The Philadelphia Eagles removed Kevin Patullo from the offensive coordinator position on Tuesday, making them a prime destination for potential coordinator candidates.

Philadelphia may be considering hiring a former NFL head coach to replace Patullo. Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report thinks former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll would be an excellent fit for the position.

“Daboll worked with Jalen Hurts in college with Alabama, helped develop reigning MVP Josh Allen in Buffalo, and probably deserves credit for bringing Jaxson Dart along as a rookie last year in New York,” Gagnon wrote on Wednesday. “The Eagles do not need to overthink this one and should bring in a well-respected, familiar face.”

The Giants decided to part ways with Daboll mid-season after he accumulated a 20-40-1 record over 61 games. Daboll’s NFL coaching journey began with the Patriots, where he worked from 2000 to 2006 as a defensive assistant, then advanced to wide receivers coach. He returned to New England as an assistant coach from 2013 to 2016, focusing on the tight ends.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported on Wednesday that Brian Daboll, along with former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, is at the top of the Eagles’ list for their offensive coordinator position.

It will be interesting to see who the Eagles decide to bring in as their offensive coordinator, as this could be one of the best jobs in the coaching market, given how talented Philadelphia’s offense is.
