FOXBORO — Patriots defensive coordinator Terrell Williams left practice midway through Monday’s session after being treated for dehydration, per the team.

]The Patriots took extra precautions after Williams dealt with an undisclosed health-related scare, which kept him home in the Detroit area during the offseason workout program, this spring, but said the defensive coordinator is “fine.” Williams returned to the team for training camp after an extended absence during rookie minicamp, minicamp and organized team activities.

Williams’ dehydration on Monday is viewed by the team as being unrelated to his health issue in the spring.

Inside linebackers coach Zak Kuhr finished up Monday’s session, the first of the week after a two-day break, as the Patriots’ defensive play-caller. Kuhr also served as the Patriots’ de facto defensive coordinator during the spring, though Williams stayed in contact with players and coaches via Zoom.

Williams is a first-year defensive coordinator. He served as head coach Mike Vrabel’s defensive line coach during their time together with the Titans. In 2024, while Vrabel was an assistant with the Browns, Williams spent the season as the Lions’ defensive line coach and run-game coordinator.
