Well that was a wild Labor Day game. The starters didn’t have it, Big Christmas couldn’t catch it, Trevor Story couldn’t NOT hit it, and the Sox came out on top. Again.
Even when he makes an out he hits it hard. It’s real and it’s spectacular.
Yet another three-hit game, including one of the stranger home runs you’ll ever see.
Pretty much the whole offense
Carlos Narvaez had a two run, pinch-hit single. Nate Eaton had two hits. Aside from Ceddanne, everyone cooked (Alex Bregman went 1-5 but the one hit was smoked).
Didn’t have it, but managed to limit the damage to 3 ER in 5 IP. If that’s “bad,” good.
Not a new addition to this list and hardly mattered, but still.
Dave O’Brien and Will Middlebrooks
Some truly bad shit today. First and funniest, Middlebrooks called Obie “Don” early in the game. It happened very fast but I caught it. Second, Obie scraped into lowest-common-denominator “Well shoot, ya know those stat guys don’t think RBIs matter, whaddya think, former player” bag, and it’s so dumb, even if Middlebrooks explained why it might actually matter (situational adjustments for runners on base). Third, when the play below happened, neither of them had the slightest idea it was a home run, leading to much screaming at the TV by me at the obvious. Be sanctimonious but know your shit, Obie. I’m doing it right now and it’s great!
