John Cena will make his final WWE appearance in Boston this November, the Boston Herald has learned.

When Cena announced that 2025 would be his final year wrestling for WWE, there was ample speculation that his farewell match would take place in Boston this December. Yet that final appearance in Boston will take place sooner than expected, as Cena will make one last stop at the TD Garden for WWE’s Monday Night Raw on Nov. 10.

A native of West Newbury, Cena has built an iconic pro wrestling career over the past two decades. He also has a highlight reel of memorable moments in Boston, which was where he captured two of his 17 world title victories. The first was in November 2008 at TD Garden, when he defeated Chris Jericho for the World Heavyweight Championship. Six years later in June 2014, he won the WWE Championship at the Garden in the Money in the Bank ladder match, battling a star-studded crew that included Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt, Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, Cesaro, and Kane.

As Cena prepares to end his 23-year run in WWE, it is only natural to think back to the beginning. His debut took place on a June 2002 edition of SmackDown, wrestling his first match against Kurt Angle, an Olympic gold medalist whose legend reached new heights in WWE.

“When you think about John Cena, so much goes into his brilliance,” said Angle, a WWE Hall of Famer. “That includes his look, his demeanor, his cleverness, and his ability to get the job done. He was also rarely injured, which is important – he was easy to build up because he was never out with injuries. John was very reliable and a student of the game.”

Most pro wrestlers prolong their careers well beyond their prime, which makes Cena an outlier. At the age of 48, Cena is stepping away while he is still performing his craft at its highest level.

“John’s ability to take a beating and keep coming back, it’s truly remarkable,” said Angle. “Don’t get me wrong, John is pretty beat up after all these years – but he never quits. It’s like he’s never skipped beat.”

The month of November will be eventful for Cena. His appearance in Boston takes place a week before his Madison Square Garden farewell in New York City. Tickets for both events go on sale starting Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. ET.

Prior to his final Massachusetts appearance in November, his “Last Time is Now” tour comes to Springfield for Raw on Sept. 15 at the MassMutual Center.

“I know John will truly miss pro wrestling,” said Angle. “But he’s etched in stone as the greatest WWE superstar of all time.”
