Three and a half months after Rafael Devers’ sudden swap to the San Francisco Giants, the “main” piece in the deal finally takes the spot he was purported to have had when the trade went down. Today Kyle Harrison is making his Red Sox starting pitcher debut. And while about three months ago I wouldn’t have been excited about that in any form of the word, I guess there’s some intrigue within me as he takes the mound tonight.
Hopefully, Harrison can impress as Boston’s latest starting call-up, Connelly Early, has in the past two weeks, and keep some momentum rolling from last night’s win at a time where the Red Sox need any and all mojo that they can get. I’m a believer that Chris Murphy’s grand slam was a big nothing last night, but I can’t deny that it stripped some mojo and momentum from an otherwise impressive win. The good news is that Boston didn’t need to bring Aroldis Chapman into the game, and hopefully the bats can keep things alive in Tampa’s minor league park down South.
