I have a soft spot for the city of Toronto in general and Blue Jays fans in particular, even though an underage teen vomited Labatt Blue all over my back on my first visit to the Rogers Centre back in 2010. And watching a packed and raucous Toronto crowd with the roof closed stirs up memories of their early-90s dominance, which represent some of my earliest baseball memories.
But the Mariners, of course, have never even been to the World Series, let alone won two of them, one via an iconic homer. We’re talking about a club whose greatest moment came in the Division Series — they need this.
