Drake Maye is making waves in the NFL this season with his exceptional performance. He’s been so impressive that ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky compared Maye to former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

“I think what stands out the most about Drake Maye right now is that he reminds me of a young Ben Roethlisberger,” Orlovsky said on Tuesday during “NFL Live”. “Here’s the thing, so often Maye sheds off that arm tackle that in the pocket shove, and I think you’re realizing when he was coming out of school how important that frame was.”

Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 225 pounds, Maye shares similar measurements with Roethlisberger, who stood 6-foot-5 and weighed 245 pounds during his playing career.

One remarkable aspect of Roethlisberger’s career was his ability to stand in the pocket and fend off defenders while delivering impressive throws. Due to his limited mobility, he relied on his frame to ward off opposing players.

Maye can also hold his own against defenders in the pocket, but he brings significantly greater athleticism to the table. His athleticism allows him to make plays with his legs outside the pocket, adding another dimension to his game.

Roethlisberger played in six Pro Bowls and won two Super Bowls. If Maye can achieve even a fraction of those accomplishments, the New England Patriots will have a bright future ahead.
