Jaylen Brown admitted he let disputes with Wednesday’s Celtics-Nuggets officiating crew throw him off his game. Though Brown scored a game-high 33 points in Boston’s 114-110 loss at TD Garden, he finished with more turnovers (seven) than free-throw attempts (three), and his effectiveness waned in the fourth quarter. “I mean, they were physical. They got away with a lot,” Brown said of Denver’s defenders. “The refs allowed them to get away with a lot. I’d love to get to the free-throw line a little bit more. I was physical, I was aggressive, I went up strong. I didn’t flop, but…

The Boston Red Sox have made some good moves this offseason, trading for Sonny Gray, Johan Oviedo and Willson Contreras. They’ve improved their rotation and upgraded at first base, especially defensively. What they haven’t done yet, however, is sign a Major League free agent two months into the offseason. After the Colorado Rockies signed veteran pitcher Michael Lorenzen to a one-year deal on Wednesday night, the Red Sox are now the only team that still hasn’t signed an MLB free agent this winter. Given the team’s high payroll, goals and publicly expressed needs, that’s pretty shocking. It’s not for a…

FOXBORO — Patriots players and coaches are expecting an electric environment at Gillette Stadium come Sunday night. The Patriots, as the No. 2 seed in the AFC, have home-field advantage over the Chargers. Head coach Mike Vrabel previously referred to Gillette Stadium as a “viper’s den” when he was coming to Foxboro to play the Patriots in the postseason as head coach of the Titans. Vrabel was asked about those comments on Wednesday. “It’s just got to be a tough place to play in January,” Vrabel said. “If we’re able to get there in January like we are, we have…

Despite all the attention that Golden State Warriors megastar Stephen Curry attracts, it’s quite possible that he’s actually underrated from an all-time standpoint. Wilson remains in concussion protocol, as evidenced by the red, non-contact jersey he wore at practice. It’s unclear whether either player will be able to play Sunday. Tight end Hunter Henry and defensive lineman Khyiris Tonga were missing at…
