Former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick will not be a first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, sources told ESPN. Belichick did not receive the 40-of-50 votes required for induction, four sources told Don Van Natta Jr. and Seth Wickersham of ESPN. NFL reporters and notable football figures, including former Colts general manager Bill Polian and former Colts head coach Tony Dungy, form the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s voting committee. Polian told some voters that Belichick should “wait a year” because of the Patriots’ Spygate scandal, per ESPN. The Patriots’ Deflategate controversy reportedly also came up during deliberations, per…

The start of spring training is just two weeks away, and the Boston Red Sox’s infield remains unsettled. While the Red Sox have done much to improve their starting rotation this offseason, they’re still short an infielder after losing Alex Bregman to the Chicago Cubs in free agency. Most of the top free agents are already off the board, but fortunately for Boston, there’s still time to swing a trade. The Red Sox have already been linked to Ketel Marte and others in trade rumors throughout the offseason, but it’s unclear if Marte is actually available. According to former MLB…
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye’s health is a storyline ahead of his team’s Super Bowl 60 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on Feb. 8. NBC Sports Boston’s Phil Perry reported Tuesday that Maye was dealing with a right shoulder issue before the AFC Championship Game win over the Denver Broncos this past Sunday, but it hadn’t limited him in practices or games. “On Drake Maye’s health, my understanding is that he was dealing with a right shoulder issue prior to the Denver game,” Perry wrote on X. “It hadn’t limited him in practices or games, but wasn’t 100 percent.…
The Bruins may not liked how they got to the end result on Tuesday night at the Garden, but results are all that matter right now. For the second night in a row, the B’s could not protect a lead that they held after 40 minutes. But unlike the verdict in Manhattan, the B’s were able to get the full two points on the table in overtime. It took just 15 seconds into OT. Mark Kastelic won the opening faceoff and Charlie McAvoy skated with it into the offensive zone. Marat Khusnutdinov jumped on for Kastelic and, after some razzle-dazzle,…
Drake Maye says his throwing shoulder is fine.Maybe it’s not 100 percent, but the Patriots quarterback said Tuesday he’ll be available for the Super Bowl.During his weekly appearance on Boston’s WEEI-FM, Maye addressed the state of his shoulder in response to online speculation that he was injured during New England’s 10-7 AFC championship game victory over Denver.“I’m feeling good. … I don’t think it’s from the game,” he said. “I think it’s just the buildup of throwing, including training camp, 30 weeks straight of throwing and four days a week. It can add up. But I got some extra rest and I’m…
Max Scherzer’s free agency could extend into the season, per reports, as teams weigh his veteran presence against durability concerns. Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer pointed to the Kansas City Royals as a compelling surprise option. “According to Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic, the latest on Max Scherzer is that he could pull a Roger Clemens and wait until the middle of the 2026 season to pick a team,” Rymer wrote on Monday. “That would make a lot of sense for him, as the last two seasons have proved him to be well past his peak durability.…
Good morning! We fans probably downplay the effect a trade has on a baseball player. Could you imagine how disrupting it would be if your employers could force you into a different job in a different city in an instant? But Payton Tolle isn’t too fazed by the trade rumors, which is just one thing he discussed during this great interview on MLB Network.Talk about what you want, keep digging out from that snow, and be good to one another. CANTON — There were many questions when Canton High School parted ways with football coach Anthony Fallon midway through the fall season. The Bulldogs were 4-0 and the only explanation was that Fallon was dismissed as he dealt with a personal matter. On Monday, the coach took to social media with a string of posts explaining his departure, expounding on a situation with many layers. He said he had been dealing with a legal incident which took place on Sept. 30. Fallon was charged with assault and battery on a person 65 years or older, but was recently found not…
