NEW YORK (AP) — Atlanta outfielder Jurickson Profar faces a 162-game suspension by Major League Baseball for a possible second failed test for a performance-enhancing drug, a person familiar with the issue told The Associated Press on Tuesday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the process, first reported by ESPN, was ongoing. The players’ association filed a grievance at Profar’s request to appeal any discipline to baseball’s independent arbitrator, Martin F. Scheinman, a second person familiar with the process said, also on condition of anonymity, because no announcement had been made.Because this would be Profar’s second infraction, an appeal would…

First pitch is at 6:05 PM. What’s the lineup? Some late-night baseball!— Red Sox (@redsox.com) 2026-03-03T16:59:39.466Z What should we watch for? Assuming you…
FORT MYERS, Fla. — Roman Anthony’s time with Team USA has gotten off to a fantastic start. Tuesday afternoon the young Red Sox outfielder hit a towering two-run home run during Team USA’s first exhibition against the San Francisco Giants in Scottsdale, Arizona. Anthony’s shot came with nobody out in the top of the sixth. After Seattle catcher and AL MVP runner-up Cal Raleigh walked to lead off the inning, Anthony got ahold of a 93.8 mph fastball from Blade Tidwell and sent it 394 feet into the right field concourse. USA pitcher Logan Webb, who was in the middle…

Andrew Peeke had played all but one game for the Bruins before the Olympic break, so it stood to reason that everyone’s antennae went up when the pending UFA’s first two healthy scratches occurred coming out of the Olympic break and with the trade deadline fast approaching on Friday. But with the B’s facing the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday at the Garden, coach Marco Sturm re-inserted Peeke back into the lineup and scratched Henri Jokiharju. Peeke getting back into the lineup does not definitively mean he’s out of the woods with regard to the trade deadline. But after the morning…
The Celtics have, as you’ve surely heard, far exceeded expectations without injured superstar Jayson Tatum this season. They’ve also navigated sporadic absences by Tatum’s longtime co-star without breaking stride. Jaylen Brown missed his seventh game of the season Monday in Milwaukee, sitting out with what the team called an illness on the second night of a back-to-back, and Boston won easily, pummeling the Bucks 108-81. It was the Celtics’ sixth victory without Brown, all of them decided by at least 16 points. Their lone loss was a 98-96 defeat at Indiana on Dec. 12, after which the NBA admitted Pascal…
A.J. Brown’s future with the Philadelphia Eagles is one of the most interesting NFL storylines as the offseason kicks into high gear. Brown has expressed his frustration with the Eagles offense at times, including this past season. If a resolution isn’t reached, could the Eagles decide to trade him? One team that needs a legit No. 1 wide receiver of Brown’s caliber is the New England Patriots. They must do everything possible to surround franchise quarterback Drake Maye with as much high-end talent as possible at the skill positions. Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel also was Brown’s head coach on…
The Patriots are fortunate to enter the 2026 offseason without many glaring needs at the top of their depth chart. Most starters are set to return from the 2025 season, when they earned a Super Bowl berth. The only two starters from last season’s squad set to hit free agency are edge defender K’Lavon Chaisson and safety Jaylinn Hawkins. If Hawkins, whom the Patriots have interest in retaining, does not return, then safety becomes one of the team’s biggest needs. Per sources, the Patriots feel it’s a deep group of free-agent safeties. The Patriots, under head coach Mike Vrabel and…
FORT MYERS, Fla. — When the Red Sox drafted Conrad Cason out of high school in 2024, they believed the Atlanta-area standout might have what it takes to become a rare two-way player in professional baseball. That dream may yet become a reality, but for now it has been delayed. After appearing in just two games of rookie ball in his first full season as a professional, Cason was sidelined due to a right elbow issue that eventually required Tommy John surgery. That procedure took place in August, all but eliminating any chance Cason could take the mound in a…
Yes, first pitch is at 1:07 PM (what? why?) on NESN. I’m guessing this broadcast be similar to a few days ago, though, when NESN simply streamed the home team’s feed, so don’t expect to get your daily dose of Tom Caron. What should we watch for?Man, would you get a look at that dog of a lineup? This is the worst type of Spring Training game. Thankfully, though, Franklin Arias gives us a reason to watch. And it’ll be nice to get a second look at Johan Oviedo. Source link
