The New England Patriots could feast on an inexperienced quarterback when facing the New York Jets on Sunday. With Justin Fields sidelined, the Jets will give Brady Cook his third straight start. The undrafted rookie hasn’t exactly played like another notable quarterback named Brady, averaging 5.4 yards per attempt with one passing touchdown and six interceptions. Cook will seek his first career win when the Jets host the Patriots in Week 17. The 24-year-old broke down his upcoming division opponent, per Jets.com’s Randy Lange. “They’re physical, a sound defense, they know what they’re doing,” Cook said. “Their DBs are physical,…

The New England Patriots are among the teams that won’t be in the market for a new quarterback this offseason. In contrast, their division rival, the Miami Dolphins, may be on the lookout for an upgrade. Miami benched quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on Dec. 17, and there is a good chance he won’t be on the roster next season. If the Dolphins are considering a change at quarterback, NFL.com’s Nick Shook believes that trading for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray would be an exciting move for Miami. “So, why Miami? That’s where I return to Tua Tagovailoa, who appears destined to…

The NFL coaching cycle will kick off in the next two weeks, and former Patriots assistant coach Brian Flores might be a candidate for a head coaching position. Flores is in his third season as the Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator. However, Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton thinks Flores could be a good fit for the Cincinnati Bengals. “Though Burrow’s extended absence significantly hurt the Bengals’ playoff chances, the organization should be concerned with Taylor’s inability to put together a quality staff,” Moton wrote on Thursday. “Last offseason, Cincinnati fired two key assistants, offensive line coach Frank Pollack and defensive coordinator Lou…
Hitting is hard. I could barely do it when I was 14, playing on the freshman team in Western Massachusetts, where the talent pool isn’t full of future major leaguers. If the pitchers started throwing 97 mph with wipeout sliders and mind-bending changeups, I probably would have started writing about the game about 10 years earlier than I did.I’ve carved out a niche on this website as the guy who tries to explain pitch sequences and why they work. A high fastball can set up a low curveball. A sinker on the inside of the plate might help you escape…
