Patriots quarterback Drake Maye delivered another impressive performance in a season full of standout games, leading New England to a 28-24 victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Maye completed 380 passing yards and threw two touchdowns. This achievement was particularly noteworthy, as it marked the first time he surpassed 300 passing yards in a single NFL game. It might come as a surprise that Maye only surpassed the 300-yard passing mark in a game this Sunday, especially when you consider the impressive passing performances he has showcased throughout the season. Maye not only achieved a career milestone with the…
New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel made some interesting comments on the radio this past week when he talked about the team’s play-calling in a Week 15 loss to the Buffalo Bills. “I’ve never really tried to second-guess the play-calling,” Vrabel said Monday morning on WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show. “I always think that the best plays are ones that are decisive, and that the players know and that they trust. And obviously there’s some better ones, but I don’t think there’s a perfect call. And so we get back and we look at it, and I’m sure there’s…
BALTIMORE — It was as if officials were working against the Patriots in their bid for a fourth-quarter comeback Sunday against the Ravens. Quarterback Drake Maye uncorked a 50+ yard bomb to wide receiver Kayshon Boutte on first-and-10 from the Patriots’ 44-yard line with 3:09 left in the fourth quarter while trailing 24-21. Boutte was getting dragged down by Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey while the ball was still in the air, yet there was no flag from officials for defensive pass interference. Boutte dropped the pass after hitting his head off the turf, and Humphrey didn’t bring in the ball.…
What the Bruins hoped would be a hay-making homestand is producing more uncomfortable questions than points. After beating the Utah Mammoth to start the five-game residency, the B’s lost to the Edmonton Oilers, squandered a winnable game in a shootout to the Vancouver Canucks and, on Sunday night, took a thorough beating at the hands of the Ottawa Senators, 6-2, at the Garden. In many critical junctures of the game, the B’s found themselves outworked by the Sens and, though Ottawa may yet turn out to be the class of Atlantic Division, that should not be happening. Their penalty kill,…
Following an injury-plagued first half, the status of Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson’s undoubtedly was the biggest question mark at the intermission. Jackson suffered a back injury with two minutes left in the first half and was quickly deemed questionable to return. He went to the ground awkwardly in front of Patriots safety Craig Woodson, who was approaching before making a hit. ESPN’s Melissa Stark reported Jackson was slow to go the stairs when walking into the Baltimore locker room. When speaking to ESPN at the half, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Jackson was being evaluated but did not…
Ignoring the fact the Red Sox don’t do guaranteed long-term free agents contracts anymore (they literally have not handed a deal to a free agent for more than two years guaranteed with no opt outs under Craig Breslow), I’d like to pause for a moment and pretend they’ll actually get serious.Simple question: Who would you rather have on the 2025 Red Sox? Alex Bregman or Bo Bichette? Ignore the contract, ignore the commitment. Just a quick assessment of what version of the infield makes the 2025 Red Sox better. The one thing I would like to take into consideration though is…
Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has one of the more original nicknames in pro sports: Drake “Drake Maye” Maye. He was asked about it in a sit-down interview with former Patriots safety Devin McCourty for the “Sunday Night Football” broadcast. Maye said he didn’t know where it came from. “I think it’s pretty clever,” Maye said. “I mean, it’s not very unique.” Maye also said he and most of his teammates don’t fully understand it. “The guys call me that in the locker room,” Maye said. “It’s funny. It gets you a laugh. Nobody really knows what it means, so I’m…
