The Patriots are inching closer to the top. New England not only maintained its lead in the AFC East after its Week 7 victory over the Titans, but Mike Vrabel’s team seems poised to enter Week 8 as one of two teams in the conference with five or more wins. Only the Colts have a better record than the Patriots while the rival Bills were on their bye following consecutive losses. With that said, where do the Patriots rank in the AFC hierarchy with one Sunday left before the calendar flips to November? Patriots insider Phil Perry weighed in on…

Bruins coach Marco Sturm pushed some of the buttons available to him, and for a while on Sunday it looked like his machinations might work. But in the end, the B’s remained in their funk, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Utah Mammoth at the Delta Center. The B’s went 0-3 on their western road trip and have now lost four straight. This game was winnable for the B’s. But with the score tied 2-2 in the third, the Mammoth took the lead with 9:23 left. After a scramble in their own end, it looked like the B’s had control…
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Mike Vrabel greeted his New England Patriots with a celebratory hug just as he did with the Tennessee Titans not far away in Nissan Stadium and not too long ago. That’s why his Patriots knew just how much winning Sunday meant to Vrabel even if the coach tried to keep the attention on his current team.Drake Maye threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns and the Patriots beat the Tennessee Titans 31-13 Sunday in Vrabel’s first game against the franchise that fired him in January 2024.“He downplayed it all week, which we appreciate,” Maye said. “I think he’s focused on us…
The New England Patriots will play at home next Sunday for the first time since they beat the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 28. Wide receiver DeMario Douglas can’t wait to get in front of the home fans for the first time in almost a month. “I know the energy’s gonna be out the roof,” Douglas said on Sunday, via 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Alex Barth. “Our fans man, we have some good fans. We have some great fans. I can’t wait. There’s nothing better than at home.” New England wrapped up its three consecutive road games with a solid victory,…
In case you missed it, Mookie Betts turned himself into one of the best defensive shortstops in baseball this year, and he did it in a history-making fashion, becoming the first player in baseball history to start at least 140 games at shortstop at age-32 or older after having made fewer than 100 career appearances at the position prior. In light of this, it’s worth looking back at his time in the Red Sox minor leagues, when he was quickly moved off the position after a few poor games in low-A. (Alex Speier, Boston Globe)And while we’re on the topic…
Drake Maye spent his Friday night standing on the sidelines of a high school football game. On Sunday, it looked like he was playing in one. In his 19th start, Maye broke the Patriots’ franchise record for highest completion percentage in a single game with at least 20 throws. He sliced and diced Tennessee’s defense, then set it ablaze; a hibachi chef in a football helmet. Maye completed a cool 91.3% of his throws, something Tom Brady never, not once, managed over his 333 games and 20 years here. What might Maye do next? Only the football gods know for…
NASHVILLE — Mike Vrabel gets to leave Tennessee happy. Closer than anticipated through the first half, the Patriots decisively beat the Titans 31-13 in Vrabel’s return to Tennessee, just 22 months after getting fired. This one must have hurt for Titans fans, seeing their former head coach, sporting his familiar navy blue vest on the opposing sideline, coaching his new team in a blowout win while their own team still looks aimless. Sunday’s matchup was viewed as a potential trap game for the Patriots, entering their third straight road game against an interim head coach. The Titans already fired Vrabel’s…
The New England Patriots followed a familiar script in their 31-13 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. It’s just a script that we hadn’t seen for awhile… New England turned back the clock by taking advantage of mistakes, correcting a few persisting problems and well… looking like the team we used to watch on a weekly basis — helping head coach Mike Vrabel make a statement in his return to Nashville, Tenn. I’ve got your takeaways: ESTABLISH(ED) THE RUN Rhamondre Stevenson has received plenty of deserved criticism this season, whether it be for his lack of ball security or…

FOXBORO — Patriots outside linebacker Anfernee Jennings, who did not have an injury status heading into Week 7, is among the team’s inactives. Jennings had been a long-time defensive starter prior to this season, when he fell down the depth chart below Harold Landry III, K’Lavon Chaisson and Keion White. Rookie Elijah Ponder also will dress over Jennings. Linebacker Jahlani Tavai and defensive tackle Milton Williams can also play on the edge. Jennings didn’t practice Wednesday with an ankle injury, was limited Thursday and a full participant on Friday. He was not listed as questionable, doubtful or out for the…
