Patriots safety Kyle Dugger and outside linebacker Anfernee Jennings are known to be available for trade with less than a week left until the NFL’s 53-man roster deadline, according to league sources. The Patriots recently raised Dugger’s name in talks with at least one team, while the front office has long been willing to take offers on him and Jennings, sources said. The writing seems to be on the wall for Dugger, who played through the end of last Saturday’s preseason game in Minnesota and practiced with the scout-team defense this week. The 29-year-old safety appears to have lost a…

Since its founding in 1994 the Oldtime Baseball Game has become an integral part of the city’s baseball community, and in recent years the game has partnered with The Boston Home, a non-profit residence and resource for adults with advanced neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis. This year, the game’s guest of honor is a longtime Red Sox executive who knows from experience just how challenging the disease is. Gus Quattlebaum, who serves as Red Sox vice president of scouting, development and integration, will throw out the first pitch at this year’s Oldtime game, which will be held tonight at…

The Boston Red Sox were stranding runners left and right on Tuesday, but in a potential scoring opportunity late in the loss, they opted not to gamble. The Red Sox lost 4-3 to the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday in a fascinating, 11-inning game. Boston trailed 3-1 before a Nathaniel Lowe two-run blast tied the game. The Red Sox largely went in control from there offensively, but despite constant traffic on the bases they could never get a go-ahead run across. Down one run in the 11th, the Red Sox had speedster Nick Eaton on third with one out. Roman Anthony…

Julian Edelman believes the New England Patriots could’ve landed the steal of the 2025 NFL Draft. Appearing on the Patriots Talk podcast with Tom E. Curran, the legendary receiver shared his biggest takeaway after he attended training camp earlier this summer. Edelman praised second-round running back TreVeyon Henderson, who flashed his explosiveness and scored twice with the soon-to-be Patriots Hall of Famer in attendance. “TreVeyon Henderson is probably the steal of the draft,” Edelman told Curran on Tuesday. “I think that’s the kind of guy you needed to draft that becomes part of that nucleus with Drake (Maye). That’s how…

Nathaniel Lowe has played just two games for the Boston Red Sox, but he’s already made a great first impression. After signing with the Red Sox on Monday, Lowe was immediately inserted into that night’s game at Fenway Park as a pinch-hitter against the Baltimore Orioles. He worked a seven-pitch walk in his first plate appearance with Boston and came around to score in the bottom of the ninth, contributing to his new team right off the bat. The former Washington National drew his first start with the Red Sox on Tuesday, batting seventh at designated hitter. After going 0-for-3…

Tonight is kind of a weird game with a bunch of little things going on all at once, and most of them are easy to overlook with the looming series in New York against the Yankees coming up this weekend. But let’s quickly run through some of them:1) Walker Buehler is getting the start in Boston tonight, and at the same time, Kyle Harrison will be pitching for Worcester. It’s probably not a coincidence that the Sox A) lined up Buehler and Harrison to pitch on the same day, and B) reshuffled their rotation a couple of turns back to…

Less than 48 hours removed from joining the Red Sox, Nathaniel Lowe immediately made his mark by hitting a game-tying two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth. It was the only offensive highlight worth writing about for the Red Sox, who otherwise came up short time and again. Tuesday will go down as one of Boston’s most confounding losses of the season, a 4-3 defeat in 11 innings to the Baltimore Orioles in which the club collectively went 0 for 13 with runners in scoring position. Worse yet, the Red Sox also stranded the bases loaded in the…
