CAMBRIDGE — The Bedford High boys tennis team had been waiting all year for Sunday. In their third state final appearance in four years, the Buccaneers captured the title by defeating the team it lost to in last year’s final, Weston, at MIT for the MIAA Division 3 state championship. For Bedford (15-4) it was the first state title since 2015 and its third ever. The Buccaneers won the Division 2 championship in 2002. Weston, last year’s champion, finished at 9-8. “This is just a great athletic group,” said Bedford coach John Geilfuss, who has been at the helm for…

MLB fans received shocking news of the Boston Red Sox trading Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants. FanSided’s Robert Murray first reported a blockbuster later confirmed by multiple sources on Sunday night. The Red Sox are reportedly sending their star slugger to San Francisco for Kyle Harrison, Jordan Hicks, James Tibbs and Jose Bello. Fans are now processing the unexpected move, which occurred hours after Devers hit his 15th home run of the season to sweep the New York Yankees. The Boston Globe’s Peter Abraham provided insight into the organization’s mindset before dealing Devers. “The team’s feeling was that…

BREAKING NEWS: In the immediate aftermath of a sweep of the blood rival Yankees, which brought the Red Sox over .500 and created more good vibes than even Brian Wilson ever did, Rafael Devers attacked manager Alex Cora with a fork and threatened to release his private copy of the Epstein Files, which reportedly includes incriminating evidence against most of the Red Sox front office. Or, at least, that’s what I assume must have happened, because otherwise I’m at a loss to explain this: The San Francisco Giants are acquiring Rafael Devers from the Boston Red Sox for Jordan Hicks,…

Hours after homering in the team’s 2-0 win over the New York Yankees, Rafael Devers addressed the media. The last question he was asked before departing the Red Sox clubhouse: Do you feel like all the drama and distractions, all that stuff, is behind you and behind the team? “Yes, it’s passed us,” Devers said, via interpreter Carlos Villoria Benítez. Those words proved prophetic, but not in a way anyone could have imagined. In one of the most shocking moves in club history, the Red Sox have reportedly traded the star slugger to the San Francisco Giants, according to multiple…

BOSTON (AP) — The Red Sox have had a chance in games whenever Garrett Crochet has been on the mound this season. And with the exception of one pitch in Friday’s 2-1, extra-inning win over the Yankees, he again proved to be the antidote to Yankees slugger Aaron Judge.Crochet held New York scoreless over a career-high 8 1/3 innings, striking out the Yankees slugger three times while holding the rest of New York’s lineup to four hits with seven total Ks.But with Boston clinging to a 1-0 lead and Crochet back on the hill to try to finish the game in the ninth,…

Earlier this weekend Red Sox manager Alex Cora said the hope was that Tanner Houck would bounce back from his most recent bullpen session well enough to begin a rehab assignment next week. As of now, it’s full steam ahead. Houck will begin his rehab assignment in Worcester on Wednesday, Cora announced prior to Sunday’s game. Houck will throw two to three innings, and outfielder Wilyer Abreu is also expected to play in Worcester this week, though the manager said they’re still mapping out a plan for him. Houck has been on the injured list since May 14 with a…

The Red Sox have a chance to sweep the New York Yankees for the first time since August of 2023, and Sunday they’ll hand the ball to Brayan Bello to try and close the deal. Bello (2-1, 3.96) is set to take the mound for the Red Sox in Sunday’s series finale against Yankees left-hander Max Fried (9-1, 1.84). Fried has been among the best pitchers in the American League this season, but Bello is coming off back-to-back quality starts and will look to extend the club’s stretch of five straight games in which the starter has completed six innings.…

You could make a strong case for Brad Marchand as the most outstanding player of the 2025 Stanley Cup Final so far. The veteran left wing scored the opening goal in the first period of Game 5 against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night. Marchand used his speed to create a scoring chance and then beat Oilers goalie Calvin Pickard with a great shot. The goal was Marchand’s fifth of the series. As a result, he has now scored five or more goals in two different Stanley Cup Final series (he also scored five with the Boston Bruins in 2011).…
