The New England Patriots’ kicker competition remains tight, and special teams coordinator Jeremy Springer has stressed that draft status will have no impact on the final decision. “It doesn’t matter if you’re drafted or undrafted or if we picked you up in free agency,” Springer said, as transcribed by Tom Carroll of WEEI Monday. “If you earn a role through consistency, showing up every day, that’s the guy that’s gonna win the job.” Special teams coordinator Jeremy Springer says Andy Borregales being drafted this spring won’t be a tie-breaker between him and Parker Romo as the two continue playing at…

Playing from behind against the San Diego Padres is usually a recipe for failure, especially in the late innings once they’ve gone to their monster of a bullpen. Sunday, however, the Red Sox had a prime opportunity to erase a five-run deficit but let it slip away. After scoring twice and loading the bases with nobody out in the top of the seventh, the Red Sox couldn’t get another run across and went on to lose 6-2 in Sunday’s series finale. In doing so the Red Sox also dropped their first series since losing two of three to the Philadelphia…
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Dylan Cease was impressive for six innings before San Diego’s All-Star-laden bullpen got into and out of trouble in the seventh and the Padres beat the Boston Red Sox 6-2 on Sunday to take two of three. The Padres have won 11 of 14 games as they continue to chase the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West.Cease (5-10) cruised into the seventh with a shutout on just three singles and a walk before walking Jarren Duran and allowing a single to Trevor Story.All-Star Jason Adam came on and hit Masataka Yoshida with…
Something feels off with the New York Yankees. After a 7-1 loss on Sunday to the Houston Astros, New York has now dropped seven of nine games and sits 6.5 games back of the American League East lead (Toronto Blue Jays). The Yankees still have the third wild card spot, but for a team that had a comfortable lead in the division earlier in the season, vibes aren’t great. Part of the issue is that Aaron Judge isn’t himself. Judge suffered a right flexor strain in late July that landed him on the IL. Since Judge returned to the lineup…
Javon Baker appears to be trending in a different direction — a positive direction — as he tries to emerge from a crowded Patriots receiver room. It’s not strictly a result of highlight-reel catches Baker made during the opening weeks of training camp. The second-year wideout has displayed his physical ability in the past, after all. This time around Baker is gaining traction by adding versatility every sixth (or seventh?) receiver needs. “If they say, ‘Go to special teams, go to kicker, whatever,’ I’m gonna do what they want me to do,” Baker said after training camp practice at Gillette…
BOSTON – John Cena has revealed his all-time favorite opponents. “I have a few wrestling soulmates,” said Cena. “Those are Randy Orton, Edge, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, and AJ Styles. But gosh, I can’t take any shine away from Cody Rhodes – add him, too.” Only a week removed from his modern-day classic against Rhodes at SummerSlam, Cena came to Boston after wrestling on WWE’s Friday Night SmackDown in Montreal. No longer WWE Champion after dropping the belt to Rhodes, Cena spent Saturday in Boston as the people’s champion, signing autographs and conducting a Q&A at the Fan Expo in…
BOSTON – The bright lights, the music blaring from the speakers and the eager anticipation from the crowd. There are not many things that are greater than the high school athletics experience. I remember attending high school events as a child and knew that one day I wanted to shine bright in that spotlight. I eventually rose to that point at the now-closed Sacred Heart High School in Kingston. I played on the varsity ice hockey and baseball teams. I was even fortunate enough to be named a league All-Star in baseball and see my name alongside other athletes in…
Boston Red Sox rising star Kristian Campbell turned a ton of heads on Sunday. Suiting up for the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox, Campbell blasted a 363-foot home run to left field. The home run had an exit velocity of 97 miles per hour. Per Beyond the Monster, Campbell went 2-for-3 in Worcester’s 6-3 loss and is now batting .268/ .402/. 428 over 169 plate appearances with Worcester. Despite starting the 2025 season with the major league club and performing well enough to earn American League Rookie of the Month honors for March/April, Campbell was demoted on June 20 after a…
That felt like a really apathetic loss. The offense just straight up fell flat with no extra base hits. The managerial decisions just didn’t pay off—namely the Abraham Toro pinch hit for Connor Wong with the bases loaded. It’s the team’s first set of back to back losses since July 21-22, which is certainly a good few weeks back. They just got dominated by Dylan Cease and the insane Padres bullpen. Not much more to say, time to head to Houston and play good baseball.Wilyer Abreu (2-f0r-4, 2 Ks)Romy did techincally drive in the only two Red Sox runs of…
