The New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks kicked off Super Bowl week Monday with Opening Night in San Jose, Calif.

Formerly known as Media Day, Opening Night featured availability for players and coaches from both teams. For Patriots fans, quarterback Drake Maye was the highlight. The second-year signal-caller touched on a variety of topics, ranging from his shoulder injury to his heroes and which NFL QB he “idolized his game after” growing up.

Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold had high praise for Maye and the Pats defense. He also opened up about his career turnaround, going from a perceived first-round draft bust with the New York Jets to a Super Bowl contender in Seattle.

Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez and Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba were also among those with noteworthy soundbites.
