The Boston Celtics’ trade possibilities remain straightforward, even as they weigh whether to acquire or move assets. If they opt to add talent, they have clear pieces in Anfernee Simons ($27.7 million expiring deal) and Sam Hauser ($10 million salary), and their focus would likely be on bolstering the center position.

One suggestion from The Athletic’s Jay King involves targeting Brooklyn Nets big man Day’Ron Sharpe, a 24-year-old who has shown plenty of flashes of potential during his young career. Sharpe has often drawn attention for his rebounding prowess and efficiency.

“The Nets might not want to give up a promising young big man, but Sharpe is at least worth a call from Boston,” King wrote on Wednesday. “The 24-year-old has been an advanced stats darling over limited minutes in Brooklyn and has a sky-high offensive rebound rate throughout his career. Though in his fifth NBA season, he just turned 24 a couple of months ago. … He might just be beginning to realize his potential.”

Sharpe is on a two-year, $12.5 million contract with a team option for 2026-27, making him an affordable option that aligns with Boston’s financial constraints. He has appeared in 37 games for Brooklyn this season, averaging 7.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 0.5 blocks in 17.9 minutes per game.

His recent outings include a 15-point, nine-rebound performance against New Orleans on January 14 and 14 points with 12 rebounds versus Dallas on January 12, demonstrating his ability to contribute in bursts.

He was selected as the 29th overall pick by Phoenix in the 2021 Draft before being traded to Brooklyn. Across his five-year career, he has played in 228 games, posting averages of 6.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists while converting 60.5 percent of his field goals. Sharpe has developed into a reliable rebounder, particularly on offense, which could address specific needs in Boston’s rotation.
