Something about the Boston Red Sox in green just works.

The club has now walked it off four times while wearing their new “Green Monster” City Connect uniforms, a trend that manager Alex Cora fully embraces.

“A few years ago, it was the yellow uniforms. Now it’s the green… whatever it is, just make it fun again here, make it a madhouse,” Cora said, as transcribed by Ian Browne of MLB.com.

That madhouse came to life again Friday night.

The latest hero was rookie outfielder Roman Anthony, who ended a tense extra-inning battle against the Houston Astros with a two-strike shot to deep center. His first career walk-off gave Boston its 60th win and pushed the Red Sox to a season-high nine games over .500.

Anthony’s blast followed a hustle play from Ceddanne Rafaela, who reached on a swinging bunt. After Wilyer Abreu beat a throw to third, Anthony made the most of his chance — delivering a fastball up the middle to set off another Fenway frenzy.

This is no fluke. It was old friend Rafael Devers who kicked things off in May with a walk-off single against Baltimore. Carlos Narvaez followed with a clutch knock versus the Yankees in June. Rafaela went yard off Pete Fairbanks in July. And now Anthony adds his name to a growing list of homegrown finishers in the new look.

Since June 30, the Red Sox are 12-2 at home and have 4 of their 7 walk-off wins this season when wearing the green jerseys.

“Today was tremendous. It was loud,” said Cora, as transcribed by Browne. “This is what it’s all about, winning games and making this place uncomfortable.”

With October in sight, the Red Sox are making noise — and the greens are helping turn up the volume.
