Eugenio Suarez has been linked to multiple teams in free agency this offseason, including the Boston Red Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates.

Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer made an interested prediction on Monday, forecasting that Suárez could end up landing with the Philadelphia Phillies.

“If one had to guess at this point, Eugenio Suárez will either head back to Seattle on a club-friendly deal or join the Pittsburgh Pirates on something more lucrative,” Rymer wrote. “The Boston Red Sox are also somewhere in there, but seem less enthusiastic.”

“The Phillies, meanwhile, just missed out on signing Bo Bichette as a free agent. That he, Luis Robert Jr. and Freddy Peralta joined the New York Mets in rapid succession only added insult to injury.”

“The heat is on the Phillies to do something in response, and signing Suárez is arguably the best play they can make,” Rymer continued. “He’s one of the best pure power hitters in the sport, so he and Citizens Bank Park would figure to be a dream matchup. To wit, Statcast estimates that Suárez would have hit 54 home runs if he’d been a Phillie for the whole year in 2025.”

Suárez powered through the 2025 MLB season with explosive production, finishing with 49 home runs—the most by a Venezuelan-born player in a single year, matching his own mark from 2019—and driving in over 120 runs across 159 games split between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Seattle Mariners.

He started hot, becoming the 19th player in MLB history to hit four home runs in one game on April 26 against the Atlanta Braves, though his team lost that contest. Traded back to Seattle in late July, Suárez continued his power surge, reaching 49 homers on September 25 as the Mariners clinched the AL West. His season featured strong exit velocity (90.2 mph average) and barrel rate (14.3 percent), showcasing his consistent threat at the plate.

Across his 12-year career since debuting with the Detroit Tigers in 2014, Suárez has amassed 325 home runs, 1,434 hits, and a .240 career batting average over more than 5,800 at-bats with the Tigers, Cincinnati Reds, Mariners, and Diamondbacks. A two-time All-Star, he ranks among the top power hitters of his era, with multiple 30-homer seasons and a reputation for clutch performances.
