The NFL coaching cycle will kick off in the next two weeks, and former Patriots assistant coach Brian Flores might be a candidate for a head coaching position.
Flores is in his third season as the Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator. However, Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton thinks Flores could be a good fit for the Cincinnati Bengals.
“Though Burrow’s extended absence significantly hurt the Bengals’ playoff chances, the organization should be concerned with Taylor’s inability to put together a quality staff,” Moton wrote on Thursday. “Last offseason, Cincinnati fired two key assistants, offensive line coach Frank Pollack and defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo.
“Instead of replacing the defensive coordinator for a unit that’s worse than last year’s group, the Bengals should consider hiring Brian Flores, a proven defensive play-caller with head-coaching experience. Flores can uplift that side of the ball, which would take pressure off Burrow and Co. on offense.”
If the Bengals decide to part ways with head coach Zac Taylor, it would be intriguing to see Flores take the reins in Cincinnati. The Bengals need a strong defensive mind, and Flores, with his experience under Bill Belichick, might be the perfect fit for the job.

Flores served as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins from 2019 to 2021, and he did an impressive job, finishing with a 24-25 record despite working with one of the NFL’s weakest rosters.
The Bengals have significantly more talent, especially on offense, than Flores had with the Dolphins. He could really turn the franchise around.
