The Boston Red Sox designated Ali Sanchez for assignment on Monday.

Just four days later, the 28-year-old catcher reportedly found a new home.

“The Mets and catcher Ali Sanchez are in agreement on a minor-league deal, league sources said,” Will Sammon of The Athletic posted on Bluesky on Friday afternoon.

Sanchez made his major league debut with the New York Mets during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, going 1-for-9 across five games. Sanchez then played two games with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2021 before spending 2022 to 2023 in the minors.

The Venezuelan played a career-high 31 games with the Miami Marlins in 2024, going 14-for-84 with no home runs and four RBIs, before signing with the Toronto Blue Jays last December. Sanchez went 5-for-21 in eight games with the Blue Jays in 2025 before being placed on waivers in August.

He joined the Red Sox on Aug. 8 and played just one game with Boston, going 0-for-1 with a line out.
