A retired quarterback with plenty of experience opposing the New England Patriots predicted a Super Bowl LX upset over the Seattle Seahawks.

Ryan Fitzpatrick played for every AFC East team other than the Patriots during his 17-year career. The former journeyman went against the grain by picking a New England triumph on his “Fitz & Whit” podcast with former offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth.

“I think everybody and their mother is picking Seattle in this game, right? I mean, the team has been the most dominant team in football this year,” Fitzpatrick said. “They’ve shown up in big-time moments. The NFC West was a gauntlet.”

Fitzpatrick nevertheless feels the Patriots will stun the “battle-tested” Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium.

“I keep looking for a way to see if New England can win this game,” Fitzpatrick continued. “I do think there’s a path. I think there’s a path for New England to win this game. I think they’re going to shock the world. This would be an enormous upset.”

Even so, his prediction was hardly a ringing endorsement of Mike Vrabel’s squad.

“They are not the better team, but all they need to do is be the better team on Sunday,” Fitzpatrick said. “I think New England wins this game.”

The Patriots are 4.5-point underdogs against the Seahawks, the only team with a higher point differential (+191) during the regular season. Many prognosticators are siding with the NFC champions, and even Fitzpatrick didn’t sound too convinced when backing New England.

Super Bowl LX is scheduled to kick off Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
