In a battle of potential young studs on the mound, Payton Tolle is set to take on Trey Yesavage. Tolle is coming off an electric outing against the Yankees, which Over The Monster’s own Jake Roy went into detail about earlier this morning. If you haven’t read that piece, go do it right now because Jake dives into what made him so effective last time around, and it’s a good thing to look out for tonight. Furthermore, if Tolle’s able to start duplicating that success in future outings, we could be on the verge of a career that’s about to take off.

Despite the 23-year-old Tolle having his whole career ahead of him though, he’s actually the older starter on the mound tonight. That’s because Toronto is sending 22-year-old Trey Yesavage to the hill for his season debut. You may remember him from last year’s World Series run where struck out Shohei Ohtani to kick off Game 1.

Lineup wise, Chad Tracy seems to be settling in with consistency at the top of his order. Jarren Duran, Willson Contreras, Roman Anthony and Wilyer Abreu are the first four hitters for the third straight game since he took over. This is noteworthy because Alex Cora had 15 different versions of the top four hitters in his lineup over the first 27 games of the season.

⚾️ First Pitch: 7:07 pm – Rogers Centre, Toronto, Ontario
