Dustin May will face the Yankees for the first time in his career, while the Red Sox contend with left-hander Carlos Rodón.

May has, however, pitched against several current Yankees in the past:

    Cody Bellinger: 0 for 2, 1 K
    Paul Goldschmidt: 2 for 5, 1 BB
    Trent Grisham: 1 for 17, 1 HR, 9 K, 5 BB
    Ryan McMahon: 1 for 7, 2 K
    Amed Rosario: 0 for 1, 1 K

May has allowed five earned runs (2.87 ERA), walked four, and struck out 17 across three starts (15.2 innings) since the Red Sox acquired him from the Dodgers at the trade deadline. He went six innings in each of his last two outings, a scoreless gem in Houston, and a two-run loss to the Orioles at Fenway on Aug. 18.

Rodón is having a stellar season for the Yankees. He enters Sunday with a 3.24 ERA in 26 starts, with 169 strikeouts across 152.2 innings. Over two starts against the Red Sox on June 8 and 14, he yielded a combined nine runs (eight earned) on 10 hits, including two homers, walked five, hit two batters, and struck out nine.
