The Boston Celtics began their three-game road trip with a 109-98 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Sunday’s matinee.

The difference was Boston’s defensive masterclass in the second quarter. The C’s limited the Cavs to only 10 points on 4-of-25 shooting (0-14 3-PT) in the frame. Cleveland cut its 26-point deficit to single digits in the second half but was unable to complete the comeback.

Jaylen Brown (23 points) and Jayson Tatum (20 points) paced the Celtics in the scoring column. Payton Pritchard (18 points) and Baylor Scheierman (16 points) did damage off the bench.

Boston will look to stay hot on Tuesday when it takes on the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference, the San Antonio Spurs.
