Boston Celtics fans will now have more intimate access inside the mind of one of the team’s stars.

Buckle your seatbelts: Derrick White has started a podcast. The pod, entitled “White Noise”, debuted on Monday. Here’s the description provided by Apple Podcasts:

“Go inside the life and mind of NBA Champion Derrick White as he sits down with close friend Alex Welsh for unfiltered conversations about his journey from D2 underdog to Boston Celtics star. They break down wild practice stories, pivotal career moments, off-season routines, and life beyond basketball—including travel, teammates, and what it’s really like getting traded mid-season. Whether you’re a hoops fan or just here for the vibes, this is Derrick like you’ve never heard him.”

White, 31, normally presents a reserved demeanor on the court and in NBA press conferences, which makes this pod all the more intriguing. Perhaps listeners will finally get to know White more than he lets on while he’s at work as one of the league’s best two-way guards.

White’s rise to the highest level of basketball is a unique story. He’s still only a decade removed from being an NCAA Division II All-American and only seven years removed from being in the NBA G League. Now, White has two NBA All-Defensive Second Team selections to his name (and probably deserves more) to go along with an NBA championship ring from 2024.

    Story continues below advertisement

White was traded to the Celtics on February 10, 2022, for Josh Richardson and Romeo Langford in easily one of Brad Stevens’ best trades as president of basketball operations. Despite his defensive accolades, White remains one of the more underrated players in the NBA, but not by basketball minds like Stevens, who know what kinds of players maximize winning.

White will be in a new position in 2025-26 as either the second or third option on the Celtics on most nights. With his outside shot still improving on an incline much like his overall confidence on offense, White could surprise a lot of people this year with gaudier scoring numbers than expected.
