In addition to being an assistant coach for the team, Sheehy has served as a USA Hockey official, and was a former standout athlete at Lowell High School.

Sheehy replaces former Red Rangers coach Dave O’Hearn, who passed away this past summer after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. O’Hearn had served as the program’s head coach since 2022, and led the team to a Div. 1 Final Four appearance in March. O’Hearn was also an assistant coach during its championship-winning season in 2018-19.
