With training camp well underway now, Mike Vrabel and the New England Patriots are largely done adding to their roster before the new season. However, a pair of trade requests from Dallas Cowboys linebacker and Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin could catch the front office’s attention.

Both Parsons and McLaurin have been holding in to begin training camp for their respective teams, as they are in search of long-term contract extensions. With no progress being made for either player, they both opted to request trades earlier this week.

The possibility of either one of them getting moved has caught the attention of fans everywhere, and that includes Pats fans. New England still needs some top-end talent on their roster, and they have the assets and salary cap space in order to potentially make a deal happen.

When considering that, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that the Patriots have been linked to both players over the past few days. However, Vrabel had no interest in discussing either Parsons or McLaurin’s status, saying he’s focusing only on the players on his roster.

“I’m not going to comment on players that are under contract on other teams,” Vrabel said recently when speaking with reporters. “Let’s focus on the ones that are here that we’re working with.”

“We see all these things happen in the National Football League, whether it’s the offseason, whether it’s before the season starts, everybody’s working with different situations. So those respective players and those respective teams will focus on their situations, and we’ll focus on ours.”

It’s not much of a surprise to see Vrabel avoid talking about Parsons and McLaurin. That doesn’t necessarily mean that the team isn’t considering a potential move behind the scenes, but at least publicly, Vrabel and company aren’t going to entertain such rumors.

Both the Cowboys and the Commanders have shown little interest in trading their respective disgruntled player, but that could change as these situations unfold. And if that does change, the Patriots would be in a great spot to make a move for one of these guys if they felt inclined to do so.
