The Mike Vrabel-led New England Patriots pushed their record to 10-2 in Week 12 with a 26-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday afternoon. Once again, it was Drake Maye leading the way on the field, and as his star profile continues to grow, the more attention he receives.

In the blink of an eye, Maye has become one of the NFL’s most popular players. Not only is he dominating on the field, where he’s thrown for 3,130 yards and 21 touchdowns so far this year, but his humble personality off the field seems to have resonated with fans.

Maye’s popularity is hard to miss with just a quick scroll on social media. Recently, fans have begun referring to Maye as Drake “Drake Maye” Maye, which is just the latest unique trend the star quarterback has been subjected to. According to Vrabel, he just found out about this nickname, and he doesn’t appear to be a fan of it.

“I’m not really sure, I just heard about it 10 seconds ago,” Vrabel said on “The Greg Hill Show.” “I couldn’t even figure out six-seven, and now it’s Drake ‘Drake Maye’ Maye.”

Vrabel unsurprisingly refers to his talented quarterback simply as “Drake,” which is to be expected since he’s his head coach. As the legend of Maye continues to grow, though, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see more nicknames get created moving forward.

The internet can have its fun, but at the end of the day, both Vrabel and Maye are focused on winning football games. The Patriots will look to push their win streak to 10 games in Week 13 when they square off against the New York Giants on Monday Night Football.
