More than two months after opting out of his contract with the Boston Red Sox, Alex Bregman still hasn’t signed anywhere. The Red Sox remain the favorites to sign him, but the two sides have yet to make a deal.

Boston appears to be gaining momentum in its negotiations with Bregman, however, based on a recent report from ESPN’s Buster Olney. Last Friday, Olney reported on “1st Up” that the Red Sox have “made an aggressive offer” to the All-Star third baseman and his agent, Scott Boras.

It’s unclear what that offer was, but several top MLB Network analysts reacted to the news during Monday’s episode of “Hot Stove.”

“I buy that,” Harold Reynolds said, believing Boston is motivated to bring back Bregman at the hot corner after trading Rafael Devers last season.

Matt Vasgersian agreed, believing the two sides are still a good match.

“I agree, and I think it’s been Boston or bust the whole time for him,” Vasgersian said. “It’s too good. He likes them. They like him. Let’s agree on the dollars and cents and wrap it up…It’s the best place for him.”

Reynolds added that there’s been some chatter about the Arizona Diamondbacks making a push for Bregman as well, but he isn’t buying it.

Bregman made a great first impression on the Red Sox last year, making the All-Star team and helping lead them to their first playoff appearance in four years. Both sides appear interested in a reunion, so it won’t be surprising if one happens soon.
