    Nate Pichardo scored two touchdowns as Nobles defeated Governor’s 16-12 in Independent School League football action.

    Rory Funke tossed a pair of touchdowns for 171 yards as Dexter Southfield (3-0) downed Taft, 20-0. … Andrew St Pierre rushed for 118 yards with two touchdowns as Thayer Academy defeated Brooks, 27-14.

    In a nonleague game, Kyle Coffin rushed for a score and threw another to lift Barnstable (3-0) past Amherst-Pelham, 41-0. … Brady McCormack totaled four rushing scores and two two-point conversions as Medfield (4-0) doubled up Nipmuc 44-22.

    Boys soccer

    In the Commonwealth Athletic Conference, goals by Jefferson Romero and Joseph Avendana powered Excel Academy to a 2-1 victory over Shawsheen.

    In nonleague action, Arthur Machado scored twice and Karl-El Ferreira added a pair of points (one goal, one assist) as Methuen defeated Malden, 5-2. … Sebastian Burke and Bryan Santos both finished with a goal a piece while Jack Maude earned his fifth shutout of the season to lead Framingham (4-0-4) to a 2-0 victory over Holliston.

    In the Middlesex League, Shea Paoletti-Newton earned his fourth shutout of the season and Lucas Koopmann tallied the lone goal of the game as Arlington defeated Reading, 1-0.

    Girls soccer

    In a Merrimack Valley Conference clash, host Chelmsford received a second-half goal from Sophia Kukla to nip Andover, 1-0. Setting up the game’s lone goal was Elizabeth Robinson. Collecting the shutout was goalkeeper Jizelle Milona.

    Down 1-0 at halftime, North Middlesex exploded for five goals to capture a 5-1 Mid-Wach win over Leominster. Sophomore Amelia Hamilton netted two goals for the Patriots.

    Field hockey

    In a Northeast Conference matchup, Gwendolyn Jones finished with four points (three goals, one assist), Fiona Bazin chipped in two points (one goal, one assist), and Ellie Fisher added a pair of goals to boost Beverly to a 9-0 victory over Peabody.
