New England Patriots fans haven’t let Asante Samuel’s infamous Super Bowl drop go, and neither has Rodney Harrison.

We’re talking, of course, about Samuel’s failure to catch an interceptable pass on the play that preceded David Tyree’s helmet catch in Super Bowl XLII. Moments after that fateful sequence, Eli Manning found Plaxico Burress for a late touchdown, and the New York Giants secured an upset victory over the previously unbeaten Patriots.

Well, in a forthcoming book by author and NFL reporter Gary Myers, Samuel was called out by legendary Patriots safety Rodney Harrison.

“Asante Samuel had the opportunity to make a play, and he dropped the interception right in his hands,” Harrison told Myers, as revealed by WEEI’s Jon Lyons, who received an advanced copy of the book.

Samuel left the Patriots that offseason to sign a lucrative contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. In the years since, he’s developed a reputation for harshly criticizing Bill Belichick and sparring with New England fans on social media.

In fact, Samuel recently fired back at an X user who said the former cornerback “blew a chance” to finish off a perfect season.

“It’s very simple,” Samuel wrote in August. “If you believe a ball over my head is a drop, you’re an idiot just like the rest of Patriots nation that thinks so.”

Samuel’s entitled to his opinion — even if it’s wrong.

The reality is that NFL cornerbacks, especially four-time Pro Bowlers, are expected to come down with those kinds of interceptions. He’s either delusional or in denial.

Myers’ book, “Brady Vs. Belichick: The Dynasty Debate“, hits shelves Sept. 16.
