New England Patriots legend Randy Moss will be returning to his full-time role on ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown” after taking a break due to his cancer diagnosis, The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand reports.

“Randy’s return on Super Bowl Sunday was an emotional lift — not just for our team but for the entire football community — and knowing he will resume his full Sunday NFL Countdown schedule, beginning in Week 1, has been the highlight of the offseason,” ESPN said in a statement to The Athletic.

Moss stepped back from the show in December when he revealed on Instagram Live that he had surgery in Charlotte for cancer, which was found in the bile duct between the pancreas and the liver. He then had to have a stent inserted into his liver due to complications, along with undergoing chemotherapy and radiation.

The league rallied behind Moss, including his former team.

The Patriots honored him after he made the initial announcement during the 2024 season ahead of their matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. As they do before every game, the players are led out by individuals holding flags with the team name and logo. But, for this game, they included an extra flag with the No. 81 on it in honor of Moss.

In addition to the usual team logo flags, the Patriots had somebody with this Randy Moss flag run out of the tunnel ahead of the team before today’s game.

New England also shared a special tribute video on the Jumbotron before its first offensive drive.

And then, when Moss returned to ESPN on Super Bowl Sunday, the network put together an incredibly emotional welcome back video for him.

It included messages from former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady, along with so many others.

This is great: Randy Moss is back on TV today after being diagnosed with bile duct cancer—and he got a surprise welcome back from Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, Justin Jefferson, Kevin Garnett, Jerry Rice and more.
