The New England Patriots are making another significant roster move ahead of the start of NFL free agency next week.
The Patriots are trading starting center Garrett Bradbury to the Chicago Bears in return for a 2027 fifth-round pick, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Friday. The deal won’t be official until the start of the new league year next Wednesday, per Rapoport.
Our Patriots Insider Phil Perry breaks down what the deal means for New England, and why Mike Vrabel and Co. are OK parting with a veteran lineman who started every game at center for them in 2025.
From Phil Perry:
This trade clears the way for Jared Wilson to kick in to center, which is the position the Patriots believed last offseason would ultimately be his best spot.
The Patriots also extended interior offensive lineman Ben Brown last season, who has experience at both center and guard.
Garrett Bradbury was one of the leaders in last season’s offensive line room. Valuable veteran presence who was durable and ended up being a key piece after being released by Minnesota.
