Red Sox sluggers Alex Bregman and Masataka Yoshida took some big steps Saturday on their roads to recovery. Both were on the field at Fenway Park, according to MLB.com’s Ian Browne.

“Early rehab update from drizzling Fenway. Masa is doing baserunning sprints. Bregman on the outfield running with a weighted vest,” Browne reported on X.

To back up that report, Browne posted video of Yoshida running from home plate to second base.

Browne followed that up with video of Bregman running.

Browne reported Friday that Bregman, the two-time All-Star and Gold Glove Award winner, resumed baseball activities for the first time since suffering a right quad injury in late May.

Masslive.com’s Christopher Smith added that Bregman took swings before game time and a better understanding of a rehab assignment should follow next week.

Bregman was hitting .299 with 11 home runs and 35 RBI in 51 games this season before his injury. Manager Alex Cora recently said he believes Bregman should be healthy enough to return after the All-Star break.

As for Yoshida, the 31-year-old has yet to play this season as he recovers from offseason shoulder surgery.

Cora disclosed before Friday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays that Yoshida could begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday. Per The Athletic’s Jen McCaffrey, Yoshida said he hopes to return by the All-Star break.

“It’s been a little bit longer than I expected,” Yoshida said through an interpreter. “My goal was to be ready by Opening Day when I got the surgery, but it’s been a long process. But overall, I think I’m in good shape and ready to go.”
