Garrett Crochet was nearly perfect in Saturday’s victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Crochet, in his final start of the unofficial first half, tossed his first ever complete game shutout in a dominant effort at Fenway Park — good enough for a 1-0 victory for the Boston Red Sox.
How did he react to the performance?
“I didn’t even know what to do when that third out was recorded,” Crochet said following the game, as relayed by MassLive’s Christopher Smith. “I was like, ‘Where do I stand?’”

Crochet has been everything and more for Boston in 2025, combining better-than-expected results on the field with some legitimately hilarious leadership off of it. Crochet will carry a 2.23 ERA and 160 strikeouts into the 2025 All-Star Game, which he was selected to but will not participate in.
