The Patriots’ plane has touched down in New England, a victorious homecoming after beating out the Denver Broncos for the AFC Championship on Sunday.
Fans braved the freezing temperatures for a chance to catch a glimpse of the team as they arrived at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick, Rhode Island on Monday, and more gathered at Gillette Stadium to await the buses. A major snowstorm delayed the team from returning immediately after the game.
“It seems like we’ve been – it’s weird to say the Patriots have been the underdogs – but the underdogs this year and everything that has happened, that Mike Vrabel has done for this team to turn it around, it’s been magical to watch,” said a woman named Tara, who came out because she had the day off.
Dominic, who was sporting a Drake Maye jersey, was just 3 the last time the Patriots played in a Super Bowl – too young to remember. This time, he’ll savor the moment.
NBC10 Boston’s Malcolm Johnson caught up with Cardi B on the field after the Patriots beat the Broncos in the AFC Championship, propelling the team to the Super Bowl.
“Drake Maye, just like, hopefully we’ll get back to Tom Brady all over again, someone as good as Tom Brady,” he told NBC10 Boston.
The Patriots are now Super Bowl-bound. They will play the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl 60 on Feb. 8 in Santa Clara, California.
