Garrett Crochet was named to the 2025 MLB All-Star Game roster on Sunday, and while it isn’t his first appearance in the All-Star Game, this one is more special for him.

The 26-year-old has a 2.39 ERA through his first 19 starts with the Red Sox, proving to be Boston’s top starter.

In 2024, with the White Sox, Crochet was the only representative for Chicago due to every team having to have a representative. He did have a strong season in Chicago before the game, totaling a 3.02 ERA in his first 20 starts.

Now with the Red Sox, Crochet is one of three Boston reserves for the American League, joining fellow teammates Alex Bregman and Aroldis Chapman.

“Last year, not that I didn’t feel like I deserved it, but the rules are a little bit different now where every team has got to have a rep,” Crochet said, according to MassLive’s Chris Cotillo. “To be one of three from our team representing the Red Sox, it’s a special feeling.”

Crochet originally came to Boston in a trade with the White Sox in December during the 2024 Winter Meetings. The Red Sox sent some of their top minor league prospects, including Kyle Teel, Braden Montgomery, Chase Meidroth and Wikelman Gonzalez.

After the trade, Boston gave him a six-year, $170 million extension to lock him down long term.

“It’s just making a good impression,” Crochet said. “Obviously, the trade and extension and everything. To be in the first, I don’t know, 5% of the total (Red Sox tenure), it’s starting to prove the worth of it already. Just really excited to represent the team.”

The All-Star Game is set for Tuesday, July 15, at 8:00 p.m. at Truist Park in Atlanta.
