Even though the Red Sox snapped a five-game losing streak by defeating the Atlanta Braves on Friday night, Boston still sits three games under .500 at 28-31 overall.

However, despite trailing the New York Yankees by 8 1/2 games in the American League East and 3 1/2 games back in the wild card standings, manager Alex Cora doesn’t appear to be on the hot seat.

Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow reiterated the faith the club has in Cora when he spoke with the media in the visitors’ dugout at Truist Park on Saturday before Boston’s middle game with Atlanta.

“Yeah, I mean, we have a lot of confidence in Alex’s ability to lead this group,” he said. “That doesn’t mean that we don’t have conversations every day about what he might be missing or what more we can do.

“But, we obviously made a commitment to Alex. We’re gonna see that through. Right now, it’s about making sure that we’re doing everything we can to enable the 26 guys on our roster to help us win as many games as possible.”

When asked if other changes to the coaching staff could be on the table, Breslow offered a very diplomatic response.

“I think it’s easy to point to that and say, ‘Hey, we need to do something to shake things up or rattle the cage a little bit,’” Breslow said. “I’m very mindful of not making a decision irresponsibly or hastily.

“But, again, I think at this point, we have to question everything that we’re doing. … We’re all in this together. I think the solution is going to come from the people that we have.”
