The New England Patriots have been one of the most surprising teams in the NFL so far this season. The team is getting contributions up and down their roster, but it hasn’t been much of a surprise to see things take a turn for the better once star cornerback Christian Gonzalez found his way onto the field.

After suffering a hamstring injury during training camp, Gonzalez missed the first three games of the season for the Pats. He’s been on the field for the last six, though, and it just so happens that New England has won all six of these games.

A lot has gone right for the Patriots, but one overlooked aspect of their success has been their team chemistry. Gonzalez recently opened up on this aspect of the team, and in the process, it became clear just how much these guys enjoy playing with each other.

“It’s fun,” Gonzalez said when speaking to reporters recently. “I feel like we’ve gotten real close in this locker room … and that just translates to Sundays. Being able to know you’ve got everybody’s back and they’ve got yours. We just go out there and have fun and try to win.”

After taking over as New England’s head coach, Mike Vrabel made it clear he wanted to change the culture within the building at 1 Patriot Place. So far, it’s tough to argue with the results, even if there’s still a lot of work to be done.

That starts with a tough Week 10 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who, at 6-2, seem set to give the Pats a real challenge in this one. Kickoff for this highly anticipated contest is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon.
