The Boston Red Sox shouldn’t be without injured outfielders Rob Refsnyder and Wilyer Abreu too much longer, according to manager Alex Cora.

“Red Sox updates from Alex Cora: Wilyer Abreu hit yesterday and moved around in the OF. He’s feeling better. Rob Refsnyder ran sprints. ‘It feels like they’re gonna be back with us next week,’” ESPN’s Mike Monaco posted Saturday morning on X.

Refsnyder was placed on the 10-day injured list on Monday with a left oblique strain. The 34-year-old has registered six home runs, 22 RBIs and a .272/.357/.471 slash line across 157 plate appearances covering 54 games this season.

Abreu hit the 10-day IL on Thursday due to a right calf strain. The 2024 Gold Glove award winner was injured during Sunday’s loss against the Miami Marlins.

Abreu currently leads the Red Sox with 22 home runs and is tied for second with 69 RBIs. The 26-year-old is also third in walks with 39 and has produced a solid .253/.325/.486 slash line while playing elite defense.

With Refsnyder and Abreu on the shelf, Ceddanne Rafaela, Jarren Duran and Roman Anthony have been joined by recent call-ups Jhostynxon Garcia and Nate Eaton in the outfield during the four-game set against the New York Yankees.
