If you haven’t paid close attention to the Boston Red Sox farm system this year, now is a good time to catch up.
The Red Sox have the prospect capital to swing a major deal ahead of the Aug. 3 MLB trade deadline. Twenty-year-old Franklin Arias — MLB’s No. 3-ranked prospect, per Baseball America — headlines a group that could help bring a big bat to Boston.
Arias was called up to Triple-A Worcester last week, and while his promotion was well-deserved and overdue, the timing of it was curious. Are the Red Sox trying to showcase their No. 1 prospect for scouts ahead of the deadline?
Potential trade suitors undoubtedly have their sights set on Arias, as well as top Red Sox pitching prospects Anthony Eyanson and Kyson Witherspoon, among others. For now, though, they remain on Boston’s top 10 prospects list — a list that could look much different one week from now.
Here’s a look at how the Red Sox’ top 10 prospects have fared lately (rankings via SoxProspects.com):
1. Franklin Arias, SS
2026 stats: .309/.396/.576, 20 HR, 54 RBI, 38 BB, 48 SO (75 games at Double-A Portland, three games at Triple-A Worcester)
MLB ETA: 2027
Arias earned his long-awaited promotion to Triple-A Worcester last week. The question is, will he still be with the organization next week?
If so, it certainly appears Boston has its shortstop of the future. Arias has raked all season long in Portland, and he tallied his 20th homer of the year Tuesday night for the WooSox.
It’s difficult to get too excited about top Red Sox prospects these days given how their recent promotions have gone, but Arias’ results speak for themselves. He doesn’t have the same question marks as Marcelo Mayer had offensively, and unlike Kristian Campbell, he can be counted on to provide a great glove in the middle infield. He might be the real deal.
2. Anthony Eyanson, RHP
2026 stats: 4-0, 1.13 ERA, 0.864 WHIP, 24 BB, 84 SO (five starts at High-A Greenville; 10 starts at Double-A Portland)
MLB ETA: 2027
Eyanson hasn’t missed a beat since his promotion to Portland. The 2025 third-rounder out of LSU is 4-0 with a 1.45 ERA across 10 games for the Sea Dogs.
His continued excellence has undoubtedly earned the attention of MLB scouts with the trade deadline right around the corner. Boston has a bevy of young pitching talent, so Eyanson is among the prospects who could be dangled in a potential deal for a big bat, but it would hurt to part ways with such a promising young arm.
3. Kyson Witherspoon, RHP
2026 stats: 2-5, 5.01 ERA, 1.429 WHIP, 33 BB, 73 SO (16 starts at High-A Greenville)
MLB ETA: 2027
Witherspoon entered his debut professional season as a candidate to take the Payton Tolle path and finish the year with the big-league club. While he’s shown flashes of his potential as a first-round pick out of Oklahoma, it’s clear he’ll need at least another year to develop in the minors.
Through three starts in July, Witherspoon has a 6.23 ERA with a 1.54 WHIP, 12 strikeouts, and five walks (13 innings pitched). Despite the growing pains, he still has a top-of-the-rotation ceiling and could headline a trade package for a sizable addition to the big-league club.
4. Jake Bennett, LHP
2026 stats: 3-2, 1.60 ERA, 1.017 WHIP, 9 BB, 41 SO (Nine starts at Triple-A Worcester); 6-4, 2.74 ERA, 0.975 WHIP, 11 BB, 46 SO (11 starts for Boston)
Bennett has been a revelation for Boston’s short-handed rotation. When Garrett Crochet went down with his injury and Brayan Bello was sent down to Worcester, the left-hander stepped up to not just stabilize the staff, but anchor it. He should be a key piece for the Red Sox moving forward, assuming he isn’t included in a blockbuster deadline deal.
5. Justin Gonzales, RF
2026 stats: .263/.379/.451, 14 HR, 42 RBI, 45 BB, 64 SO (74 games at High-A Greenville)
MLB ETA: 2028
Arias’ numbers speak for themselves, but Gonzales has been the most electrifying Red Sox prospect in 2026. The 6-foot-5, 270-pounder is hilariously intimidating when he steps to the plate, and that intimidation was on full display last week.
After Gonzales crushed a long three-run homer, the Hub City Spartanburgers catcher decided it was a good idea to confront the Greenville slugger. He paid the price with a slap to the face, sparking a benches-clearing scuffle:
On Sunday, Gonzales returned and belted a walk-off homer against Hub City:
At this rate, we could see Gonzales earn his promotion to Double-A Portland sooner rather than later.
6. Enddy Azocar, CF
2026 stats: .266/.324/.503, 15 HR, 53 RBI, 27 BB, 91 SO (39 games with High-A Salem; 41 games with High-A Greenville)
MLB ETA: 2029
Azocar is in the midst of a breakout campaign. The exciting outfielder raked in Salem and hasn’t stopped raking with Greenville with seven homers this month, including four in a four-game span.
He has five-tool potential as an above-average center fielder with power. If the bat-to-ball skills continue to improve, look out.
7. Franklin Primera, C
2026 stats: .374/.498/.607, 9 HR, 35 RBI, 30 BB, 24 SO (32 games for FCL Red Sox; 16 games for Low-A Salem)
MLB ETA: 2029
Primera already provides great defense behind the plate at 19 years old, and all it takes is one look at his numbers to get excited about his offensive upside. He earned a well-deserved midseason promotion to Low-A Salem, and given how he has produced there, Greenville may not be far away.
8. Henry Godbout, SS
2026 stats: .277/.410/.492, 7 HR, 14 RBI, 22 BB, 27 SO (34 games at High-A Greenville)
MLB ETA: 2028
Godbout is still recovering from surgery after suffering a broken left hand on a hit-by-pitch last month. He was transferred to the 60-day injured list on June 8.
Before the injury, the Virginia product took an encouraging step forward in the power department while continuing to showcase his advanced plate discipline and bat-to-ball skills. He has a 13.7 percent walk rate and a 16.8 percent strikeout rate in 34 games for High-A Greenville.
9. Juan Valera, RHP
2026 stats: 0-0, 1.93 ERA, 0.857 WHIP, 4 BB, 17 SO (three starts at High-A Greenville)
MLB ETA: 2029
Valera underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery after three strong starts for Greenville. The 20-year-old cracked Baseball America’s Top 100 prospect rankings before his injury.
10. Sadbiel Delzine, RHP
2026 stats: 4-1, 2.68 ERA, 1.076 WHIP, 20 BB, 49 SO (11 appearances for FCL Red Sox, one start for Low-A Salem)
MLB ETA: 2029
The newest addition to SoxProspect.com’s top 10 rankings, Delzine is an 18-year-old right-hander who stands 6-foot-5, 255 pounds. The 2025 international signee out of Venezuela already has three usable pitches: a fastball, changeup, and curveball — plus a slider that could eventually become a regular part of his arsenal.
Delzine recently earned the call-up to Low-A Salem. If he continues pitching the way he has, he’ll likely move up a couple of spots before the next prospect update.
