FOXBORO — Among the long list of special guests at Wednesday’s Patriots joint practice was Celtics star Jayson Tatum. Tatum, who’s recovering from a ruptured Achilles, did not wear a walking boot as he watched practice alongside C’s staffers Nick Sang and Bred Hampton. The group attended the final 90 minutes of the two-hour session, standing throughout, then spent time greeting players and posing for photos. Former Patriots Danny Amendola, Devin McCourty, Jason McCourty and Patrick Chung also were among the notables in attendance as New England hosted the visiting Washington Commanders at their practice facility. The farm looks different these days. The Red Sox no longer have the top prospect in baseball after Roman Anthony earned an early-June call-up and performed so well that Boston signed him an eight-year extension. They no longer have Marcelo Mayer nor Kristian Campbell headlining their list either, despite the fact neither are currently taking the field in Boston. Even the top prospect Boston acquired in the Rafael Devers trade, James Tibbs III, no longer has his sights set on Fenway Park after being traded before the July 31 deadline. There’s been quite a bit of turnover at the top,…

Definitely caught me off guard,” O’Ward said Wednesday. “I was just a little bit shocked at the coincidences of that and, you know, of what it means. … I don’t think it made a lot of people proud, to…

Roman Anthony has had a dream start to his Boston Red Sox career. He’s performed to the level many expected and signed a huge contract to stay with the team for the foreseeable future. Kristian Campbell’s major league career hasn’t gone quite as well. He also signed a long-term extension, but after a hot start, Campbell went ice cold before being sent down to Triple-A Worcester. This is my 300th article writing for Over The Monster. Insert cake emoji, insert candles emoji. Here’s to another 300! Let’s get right into yesterday’s action. The WooSox — seeing the Red Sox dig deep into their bullpen and lose 7-3 — maybe got envious and did the same? On a six-pitcher night Cooper Criswell got tagged for three earned runs on five hits in four innings and the offensive output couldn’t match that. It also didn’t help that Brennan Bernardino, resting down in Worcester, didn’t look too great in his inning of work, but he did strike out three, at…
