Amidst their longest losing streak since September 2022, the Red Sox made three bullpen-related roster moves Saturday afternoon. Rookie right-hander Luis Guerrero has been placed on the 15-day injured list with an elbow sprain. There are no plans to send him for an MRI at this time, manager Alex Cora said. Between his debut last Sept. 8 and April of this year, Guerrero began his big-league career with 12 consecutive scoreless appearances, the most by an American League pitcher since Austin Maddox’s Red Sox debut in 2017. In franchise history, the only longer streak of its kind belongs to Robby…

The MLB trade deadline is roughly a month away, and the coming weeks should go a long way towards determining who’s a buyer, who’s a seller and who could go either way. Which path will the Red Sox take? And who could be on the move leading up to July 31? Boston has already made probably the biggest trade of the season by dealing Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants, but chief baseball officer Craig Breslow has suggested the team could still try to add before the deadline. No matter what comes next, there are a number of players…
The Boston Bruins not only got a steal in James Hagens at No. 7 in the 2025 NHL Draft, but they also grabbed a perfect fit. Hagens currently plays down the road from the Bruins’ home, TD Garden, at Conte Forum with Boston College. The 5-foot-11, 177-pound forward had 11 goals and 26 assists on a loaded Eagles team in his freshman season. No matter whether Hagens decides to stay an extra season at BC or play with Boston, he will stay close to his brother. The Long Island native’s brother is Michael Hagens, who also plays for the Eagles.…
It will take a few years before we can accurately judge the quality of the Boston Bruins’ 2025 draft class. But in the short term, at least on paper, it appears the Bruins did pretty well over the last two days in Los Angeles. The Bruins very much needed to bolster their talent and depth at center in this draft, so it wasn’t surprising to see them select centers with their first two picks. The B’s were fortunate that Boston College star James Hagens — the No. 1 ranked prospect in the 2025 class before the season — fell to…
It’s been too quiet on the offensive front for the Red Sox of late. They entered Saturday averaging 2.8 runs per game over 10 contests since the Rafael Devers trade. Baseball’s last team to be shut out, the Red Sox weren’t held scoreless by anyone until May 31 in Atlanta. In 10 games post-Devers, however, they’ve been shut out twice, including a 9-0 Blue Jays drubbing in Friday’s series opener. Baseball is beautifully, maddeningly unpredictable, though. So it was a welcome change of pace when the Red Sox scored three runs in each of the first three frame, knocked Toronto…
BOSTON (AP) — The struggling Boston Red Sox could be getting some offensive help soon.Manager Alex Cora said Masataka Yoshida would start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday. The 31-year-old DH/outfielder has been out the entire season following surgery on his right shoulder in October.“He’ll go on a rehab assignment. We’ll see how many at-bats he needs,” Cora said Saturday before the Red Sox faced the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park. “He’s moving well, the swing feels great, the throwing has been a lot better. He’s been able to bounce back, so we just have to map…
The Red Sox have finally won a game, snapping a six game losing streak that was their longest since September 2022. Three Red Sox players: Wilyer Abreu, Ceddanne Rafaela, and Romy Gonzalez all hit home runs in the 15-1 win. For more, check out the video above from “Red Sox Extra-Innings,” presented by W.B. Mason. Bob DeChiara-Imagn Images The Red Sox did it — they won a game. For the first time in a week, we can celebrate a Boston victory, and for the first time in the post-Rafael Devers era (tears), they’ve won one at Fenway. I think my highlight of Chris Bassitt’s relative dominance of the Red Sox was what they needed to be reminded of to break out of a nearly two-game scoreless streak, and I’m proud to keep calling them out if that’s what works! Bassitt’s given Boston fits since even his time in Oakland, but jumped on him almost right…
FOXBORO — The New England Revolution staged a historic comeback on Saturday night, rallying from a three-goal deficit to earn a dramatic 3-3 draw with the Colorado Rapids at Gillette Stadium. The Revolution (6-6-6, 24 points) stormed back with a stunning second-half rally after falling behind 3-0. The coda of the match was punctuated by substitute Maxi Urruti, who rose up to head in the equalizer — and his second goal of the season — off a cross by Tanner Beason in the third minute of second half stoppage time. With his team in a small rut and playing on…
Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss. The New England Free Jacks are the Major League Rugby (MLR) champs for a third straight year after downing the Houston SaberCats 28-22 at Centerville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, RI. Before 5,673 mostly home fans, the Free Jacks led virtually the whole way. Paula Balekana posted two tries, his 14th and 15th of the season. Dan Hollinshead converted three penalty goals and two conversions for 13 points. The Free Jacks are the first club with three MLR shields. Source link
