James Hagens hasn’t had much time to stop and smell the roses since being drafted by the Boston Bruins. It’s been a whirlwind. Hagens, whose dreams were realized when he was taken with the No. 7 pick in the 2025 NHL Draft on Friday, spent the weekend out in California. The Bruins opened up their annual development camp on Monday, however, and making it across the country proved to be pretty difficult. Hagens’ flights kept getting delayed, which pushed off his arrival to the first day of on-ice training and led the organization to give their new top prospect the…

The Boston Bruins have been very busy finalizing contracts with their own free agents before NHL free agency officially opens across the league Tuesday at noon ET. The team announced Monday it has agreed to the following contracts with three restricted free agents: Henri Jokiharju, D: Three years, $9 million John Beecher, C: One year, $900,000 Michael DiPietro, G: Two years, $1.625 million The Bruins don’t have much depth on the right side of their blue line, so it’s not a huge surprise that Jokiharju is returning. The B’s acquired him from the Buffalo Sabres at the trade deadline back…

With a lefty on the mound for the Blue Jays on Sunday, the Red Sox lineup looks a little different than normal. Romy Gonzalez will bat leadoff for the second time this season, with the only other instance coming back on April 12 against the White Sox. The left-handed hitting Roman Anthony will bat second, followed by three righties in Rob Refsnyder, Carlos Narvaez and Trevor Story. Jarren Duran, Boston’s usual leadoff hitter, will bat sixth. Duran is batting .213 with a .547 OPS against lefties this year, a notable drop-off from his .273/.792 marks against righties. Walker Buehler (5-5,…

After locking up Morgan Geekie on Sunday night, the Bruins kept the signings coming on Monday morning with three more contracts to announce ahead of Tuesday’s opening on free agency. At the top of the list is right-shot defenseman Henri Jokiharju, who was signed to a three-year deal with an average annual value of $3 million. The 25-year-old Jokiharju, who was going to be a UFA, was obtained from the Sabres at the trade deadline and fit in reasonably well with Nikita Zadorov. With only Charlie McAvoy and Andrew Peeke as the only viable NHL right shot defensemen on the…

The Boston Bruins had a busy weekend with the 2025 NHL Draft and the signings of their unrestricted and restricted free agents. The Bruins signed forward Marat Khusnutdinov to a two-year contract extension through the 2026-27 season with an annual cap hit of $925,000, the team announced on Sunday. Boston also signed defenseman Michael Callahan to a one-year, two-way contract through the 2025-26 season with an NHL cap hit of $775,000. The 22-year-old Khusnutdinov was acquired in a trade with the Minnesota Wild in exchange for forward Justin Brazeau. In 75 games split between the Wild and Bruins, Khusnutdinov recorded…

My question about Walker Buehler being due for a bounce back game was answered really quickly. He was not. Back to back jacks to Addison Barger and Vlad Jr. in the 1st inning spelled a lot of doom for his outing on Sunday afternoon. It’s just beyond frustrating to hope the best for a guy and get met with that right out of the gate. The offense tried when it could to get back into this game…in the first six innings. One walk in the eighth spelled the last baserunner for the Red Sox in the final three frames. This…

The Bruins gave their fans a reason to be excited about the future at the NHL draft over the weekend, leaning into skill and landing a player who could be that No. 1 center (James Hagens) they’ve been searching for since the middle of Patrice Bergeron’s career, as well as intriguing offensive-minded forwards in Will Moore and Cooper Simpson. But what about the team that they’re going to ice in a few months? We’ll get a better handle on that over the next 48 hours. They’ve got holes to fill both at forward and defense. Bruins GM Don Sweeney had…

The Boston Red Sox ended their six-game losing streak by delivering a much-needed 15-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday. The team had previously scored four runs in their last 28 innings before Saturday’s impressive display. Red Sox rookie Roman Anthony was front and center during the team’s 18-hit barrage against Toronto pitching.
