BELLINGHAM — The terrain was unforgiving. One mistake during a swing could be the difference. Nothing was going to deter Walpole’s girls golf team from making history Tuesday, however. Junior captain Tori Adams shot an 84 (12-over-par), while Juliet Massey finished with a 91 as the Timberwolves captured their second straight South Sectional title at Maplegate Country Club. “I’m just very happy and grateful,” said second-year Walpole coach Vivian Kolovos. “They’re a great group of girls. They pulled it together today for the win, which is exciting.” The MIAA had used an array of unique courses for its sectional tournaments…

The Red Sox also activated left-hander Zach Penrod (left elbow sprain) from the 60-day IL and optioned him to Triple-A. Who is he and where did he come from? He’s Ryan Noda. He’s the newest Red Sox in town after Boston sent the Angels everyone’s favorite name: Cash Considerations. Noda, who turned 29 in March, grew up in northern Illinois, was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 15th round of the 2017 MLB Draft, and shot up prospect boards but stalled a bit in the Dodgers’ farm system after being the “player to be named later” in a Ross Stripling deal. He then ended up in Oakland via the Rule 5 draft, and was an everyday starter for them…

Jrue Holiday is a logical offseason trade candidate for the tax-strapped Celtics, and at least one team reportedly has interest in acquiring the veteran guard. NBA insider Marc Stein listed the Dallas Mavericks as a potential suitor for Holiday, who turns 35 this summer and has three years remaining on his contract with Boston. “League sources say Dallas is expected to at least explore whether there are any feasible trade pathways to Boston’s Jrue Holiday — complicated as that would likely be given the three years and $104 million still left on Holiday’s contract,” Stein wrote in his The Stein…

One shouldn’t pay too much attention to social media in any aspect of life, but Red Sox fans on the X app over the last week might have stumbled across an opinion that is gaining a little bit of steam: Boston should consider sending down Kristian Campbell. After a tremendous start to his first season in the major leagues, Campbell has predictably hit a wall. Very few players of his age and experience avoid this valley. Eventually, there’s a book on the player, and the league adjusts. Baseball is a game of adjustments, and thus, the player must make his…
