FINAL, 124-113 Celtics: That was a thoroughly professional and hard-working performance from the Celtics, likely indicative of a well-run camp by Joe Mazzulla. His hallmark is always having a team that goes full-speed full-time, and the preseason debut was a good representation of that — even if Mazzulla wasn’t coaching this game himself.
Luka Garza, Hugo Gonzalez, Jordan Walsh and Baylor Scheierman gave heavy minutes in the starting five, while Dillon Mitchell played 28 points off the bench. (Devin Carter played 25 and Chris Cenac Jr. played 24.)
Garza scored 22 points with 10 rebounds, Scheierman and Walsh had 16 points apiece, Gonzalez scored 15, and Mitchell (17 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals) and Carter (17 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals) contributed off the bench in big ways.
It was the preseason, of course, but the Cavs played everybody they had except for James Harden. So some confidence was surely built for Boston’s role players.
