The Boston Celtics lost 117-106 to the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night, but with each passing game, there’s a growing possibility that Jayson Tatum is getting closer to making his return to the court.

Tatum hasn’t participated in an NBA game since the Eastern Conference semifinals in May after he tore his Achilles.

However, since the season is just over halfway through, Tatum could return within the next few months, and his teammate Sam Hauser can’t wait to welcome him back with open arms.

“If he is going to return, we’ll welcome him with open arms, for sure,” Hauser said on Wednesday, via WEEI’s Justin Turpin. “He’s such a great player. Any time you can have the luxury of adding a player like that to your rotation, it’s pretty exciting.”

If the Celtics can get Tatum back before the playoffs, there’s a good chance that Boston could be favored to win the Eastern Conference.

Tatum is one of the top players in the NBA when he’s healthy. If he can get close to 100%, the Celtics should be favored, especially considering how many teams in the conference have struggled this season.
