Even the most optimistic Boston Celtics fans couldn’t have predicted their team would secure the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference this season.
But that’s what the C’s accomplished Friday night with a 144-118 win over the New Orleans Pelicans at TD Garden. The C’s scored 44 points in the first quarter and never looked back. It was a dominant offensive performance, highlighted by a record-tying 29 made 3-pointers by the Celtics.
The regular season ends Sunday, and then the 2026 playoffs begin the following weekend. The Celtics’ first-round opponent will be the winner of the No. 7 vs. No. 8 play-in tournament game next week.
